Roanoke Rapids police are investigating a Saturday night robbery where a man was beaten and robbed of an undisclosed amount of money.

Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek said the victim was washing his car at the car wash beside the Store Next Door on Fifth Street when he was approached by two people described as black males.

One was wearing a white bandanna and the other was wearing a blue bandanna.

One man demanded money and when the victim apparently did not respond quick enough he was beaten with what is believed to be the butt end of a pistol.

The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
