It was called to my attention that the number I gave at our City Council Retreat was low for Health Insurance for the year 2006.
After looking into this I discovered that we changed providers July 1, 2006. We had our insurance with NCLM (Municipal Insurance Trust – CIGNA) until June 30, 2006. The number that I gave at the Retreat $440,329.02 was for Blue Cross and Blue Shield (not CIGNA). I should have added in the CIGNA (Municipal Insurance Trust) amount of $419,897.72. So the total for 2006 calendar year was $860, 226.74.
I have attached a spreadsheet with a breakdown of the cost of Health Insurance since 2006 showing the plan and deductible that we had each year.
I do apologize to each of you for making this terrible mistake and I want each of you to know that I would never give incorrect information to any Council Member, City Manager, Department Head, the Press or a Citizen.
I also have apologized to Mr. Phil Hux for the misinformation and have assured him that it was not done with any type of malice.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this information or if you need additional information.
Sincerely,
Kathy A. Kearney
