The fourth person wanted in an April 3 shooting on Henry Street was arrested Tuesday afternoon, the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said.

Cadaryl Lamont Carter, 23, was arrested by narcotic agents acting on a tip, said Captain Andy Jackson.

Carter was located in an apartment complex behind the police station, where family members live, and was charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery, one count of attempted armed robbery and two outstanding warrants for failure to appear.

“This locks it up. It completes the circle,” Jackson said of Carter’s arrest in the shooting of Raymond Garner III. Garner is recovering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Carter was jailed on $159,000 bond and joins Christopher Lee Greene, 41, Lamont Jermaine Hopson and Dudley Lamar Kee as those arrested in the case.

Greene was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury while Hopson and Kee were charged with attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Jackson said Garner went to the house with a little money and the four men allegedly attempted to rob him.

The captain described the house on Henry Street as a trap house where illegal activity occurs.
