A man who walked inside a church and threatened its members was arrested Thursday night after a struggle with police.

One officer got minor injuries and the man, James Burrow, 48, was arrested, Roanoke Rapids Deputy Chief Adam Bondarek said today.

Burrow walked into First Christian Church on Roanoke Avenue and was disruptive and belligerent to parishioners and staff. When police tried to arrest him a struggle ensued before he was restrained.

Bondarek said the man was not a member of the church and no reason for the tirade was given.

Burrow continued to give officers trouble at the police station, where he allegedly urinated on the floor and knocked over a computer in the interview room.

He was charged with injury to personal property, defacing public property, resist a public officer and three counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.

He was jailed on $5,000 bond.
