An Enfield man was charged on marijuana counts Thursday morning after two deputies saw him and another man walking in the South Dennis Street Extension area around 2:45.

Detective Tyree Davis said in a news release deputies Chris High and Jason Keeter were on routine patrol when they spotted Willie Earl Yancey and another man walking.

Keeter and High approached them about why they were in the area at that time of day.

While talking with the two males, Deputy Keeter asked Yancey, 49, if he had anything on him. Yancey told Keeter he had some weed on him. Keeter searched Yancey and found 17 prepackaged bags of marijuana totaling 9.7 grams in his coat pocket.

Deputy Keeter arrested Yancey for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Yancey was given a $750 bond and his court date is set for Nov. 4. The other male was not charged.
