United States Marshals believe two men originally wanted in a Washington, D.C., murder are no longer in the Roanoke Rapids area.
Lieutenant Bobby Martin of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said federal authorities informed him this morning they believe local media pressure may have made them uncomfortable. “They said it made it too hot for their little honeycomb hideout.”
Martin said many times fugitives with ties to the area come back because they believe local law enforcement doesn’t pay attention. “The thing is, law enforcement does pay attention and we have citizens who pay attention and when something is put out they call immediately.”

Carraway
One of the men federal authorities are looking for is Chamonte Walker, who has family in the area. The man believed to be with him is Meeko Sha Carraway.
Both men are now believed to be back in the Washington area and are considered armed and dangerous.
Carraway is wanted in the homicide and Walker is wanted for questioning, said Martin.
Carraway stands 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. Walker stands 6 feet tall and weighs 155 pounds.
