A Roanoke Rapids man has been charged with two counts of attempted second degree rape and assault on a female following an investigation by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Detective James Matthews said officers responded to Halifax Regional Medical Center and spoke to two victims about an attempted rape, assault and kidnapping Sunday.
Further investigation by Matthews and deputies Willie Murphy and Joshua Clark resulted in the arrest of Derrick Tyrone Davis, 26, who was also charged with two counts of second degree kidnapping.
He was jailed on $100,000 bond and has a December 15 court date.
