A Weldon man was shot this evening while parked at a house at Ransome Circle the town’s police department is targeting for nuisance abatement.

Chief Mark Macon said the police department received a call around 5:50 that Luther Terry was shot twice while he sat in a parked car at 209 Ransome Circle, hit in the upper body with bullets from a small caliber, semiautomatic weapon.

Terry was presumably shot by Alphonso “Tyson” Williams while his brother, Michael “Mike Mike” Ponton Jr. allegedly stood by, Macon said.

The two men fled the scene, Williams on a white Lincoln and Ponton on a burgundy Pontiac.

Terry is in what Macon described as critical condition.

Williams is described as a black make standing between 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 240 pounds.

Ponton is described as a black weighing between 140 to 150 pounds.

The shooting was over a dispute involving money, Macon said.

Over the past week, police have responded to a shots fired and fight call at the house, which is called the Community House where there are cookouts and other gatherings for people in the community.

The house has a seedy side, Macon told rrspin.com in October, shooting calls, rapes, murders and drug dealing. Officers also jokingly call the house the Weldon PD substation.

Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to call the police department at 252-536-3136 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
