A January 17 breaking and entering led Friday to 39 charges being filed against a Roanoke Rapids man, according to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

Detective James Matthews said he and Deputy Danny Radford investigated the case and learned blank checks and cash were stolen.

Matthews and Lieutenant Bobby Martin questioned 22-year-old David Hinkle and charged him Friday with seven counts of obtaining property by false pretense, seven counts of possession of stolen property, seven counts of uttering forged endorsement, nine misdemeanor counts of larceny, one count of injury to real property and one count of felony breaking and entering.

Hinkle was jailed on $10,000 bond and has a March 2 court date.
