A Roanoke Rapids man was charged with assault on a female Friday after allegedly getting a girl to come to his house.
Jonathan Lucas was also charged with false imprisonment and communicating threats.
Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said once the girl came over he began cursing at her and refused to let her leave. He allegedly hit her and choked her, leaving visible marks on her body.
Jackson said the girl was unable to get to a phone. It wasn't until Lucas's mother got home and heard the commotion that the girl was able to get free.
Jackson said the girl was a different victim from the one the 19-year-old Lucas was charged with assaulting last year.
In that case he was cleared of a second-degree kidnapping charge but pled guilty to assault on a female. A probation release violation was consolidated with the assault charge.
