A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested this morning for allegedly attempting to buy a half pound of marijuana.

The arrest of Bryan Lamont Boone,  30, of Highway 48, occurred in the 1000 block Vance Street. The stop by Officer Mark Peck was based on an outstanding warrant from an undercover operation in March.

Captain Andy Jackson said Boone allegedly conspired to buy marijuana from an undercover agent.

It was not clear whether Boone was attempting to make the transaction when he was arrested with assistance from Sergeant Richard White and Officer Roy Ball shortly before 4 a.m.

Boone was charged with one count of conspire to purchase a felony amount of marijuana.

He was jailed on $12,000 bond and has a May 25 court date.
