A Roanoke Rapids woman faces cocaine and ecstasy possession charges following an investigation Wednesday morning.

The arrest of Katherine Jackson, 33, began when Officer Roy Ball saw a man walking from 1030 Vance Street toward to the road around 3:30 a.m.

Captain Andy Jackson said Ball smelled marijuana on the man. After checking the man Ball and officers Mark Peck and Jason Williams, along with Sergeant Richard White, went back to the house.

Captain Jackson said officers had been to the house previously that evening to warn the occupants about loud music.

After talking to the man walking, however, they went back and asked for consent to search.

The officers found a baggie of powdered cocaine and bag containing 88 ecstasy pills, along with a napkin with cocaine residue.

Jackson was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule I, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver schedule II, possession of schedule I, possession of schedule II and maintaining a dwelling to keep a controlled substance.

She was jailed on $20,000 bond.
