A Roanoke Rapids man being booked on intoxicated and disruptive charges from Roanoke Rapids police got more charges filed against him when he allegedly spit and threatened to kill Halifax County Jail personnel Saturday afternoon.
Lieutenant George Evans of the sheriff's office said 25-year-old Stephen Anthony Taylor was jailed on the Roanoke Rapids charges and became verbally abusive as jail officers D. Dickens and M. Broadnax processed and booked him.
He allegedly threatened to kill Dickens and started spitting on the officers, who were not otherwise injured.
Evans charged Taylor with malicious conduct by an inmate, assault on a government official and communicating threats. He was jailed on $6,000 bond and has a July 20 court date.
