The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office continues to look for two people wanted following a drug trafficking raid Friday, while one is behind bars awaiting his first district court appearance next month.
Jazmine Ransom and Tyron Mills remain at large, while Cecil Ransom is under a $115,000 secured bond on drug charges. Cecil was denied bail for three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, Major Anzell Harris said.
The raids on Jim Martin Drive in Roanoke Rapids and Cedar Street in Weldon were related to Cecil Ransom. Jazmine is also listed as having a Jim Martin Drive address in a 2024 Wake County case involving drug possession in Raleigh, according to warrants.
Mills is linked to a Melody Lane address in Roanoke Rapids. Currently, no warrants have been filed in the state’s electronic database for Mills or Jazmine.
The raid resulted in the following seizures:
Four firearms — three handguns and one AR-15-style pistol
1,019 grams of powdered cocaine
54 grams of crack cocaine
417 grams of marijuana
4 grams of MDMA tablets
Various drug packaging and processing materials
Harris said two search warrants were simultaneously executed Friday morning by the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, Rocky Mount Police Department Narcotics Unit, and Homeland Security investigators after several months of investigation into drug trafficking activity. A third search warrant at Melody Lane was executed later that afternoon.
Cecil, 45, and Mills, 49, were identified as the targets in the investigation.
Cecil faces charges of three counts of possession of a firearm by a felon; possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana; simple possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance; felony maintaining a dwelling for the sale of narcotics; trafficking cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver cocaine; and felony possession of cocaine.
Cecil had been previously convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon in May 2003, according to court records.
Additional charges are anticipated as a result of the Cedar Street search warrant related to Cecil.
Agents have obtained an arrest warrant for Jazmine for trafficking cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance; and felony maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for the sale of narcotics as a result of the Jim Martin Drive and Cedar Street search warrants.
Mills faces charges of trafficking cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver cocaine; felony possession of cocaine; possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana; felony possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance; and felony maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for the sale of narcotics.
Throughout this ongoing investigation, Harris said agents have seized over $51,000, more than 1,860 grams of powdered cocaine, more than 90 grams of crack cocaine, and more than 450 grams of marijuana from Ransom and Mills.
“The sheriff’s office and the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force are extremely appreciative of the interagency cooperation, open communication, and willingness to take the steps necessary to improve the quality of life in our communities by working jointly with our neighboring agencies and federal partners to remove dangerous drugs from our neighborhoods,” Sheriff Tyree Davis said.
At the beginning of this investigation, the HCSO and Rocky Mount Police Department signed a mutual aid agreement allowing the Halifax Regional Drug and Gang Task Force and the Rocky Mount Police Department Narcotics Unit to enter each other’s respective jurisdictions throughout this and other narcotics investigations, Harris said.
“This partnership allows for more manpower and resources to help combat the war on drugs in Halifax County,” Davis said.
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division also assisted in the execution of the search warrants.
