A Garysburg woman has been charged with 53 counts of embezzlement following an investigation by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department.

Captain Andy Jackson said Claudette Parker, 37, was the office manager for C.W. Counseling Services located at 608 B Jackson Street.

The embezzlement of some $32,000 over six months was discovered when the owner went to cash a check and discovered the funds were not available.

The crime was reported two weeks ago and Parker was arrested June 15. She was jailed on $5,000 secured bond.
