One man was arrested and charged today and Weldon police continue to look for another person in the July 2 shooting of a 14-year-old juvenile on Corbitt Drive.

Sergeant Lee Mason said in a statement Jesse Jamar Arrington was taken into custody by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant related to the shooting.

Arrington was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling causing serious injury. 

Arrington received a $300,000 secured bond and August 7 court date.

Mason said it is still not clear why the shooting took place. 

The police department is still attempting to locate Wilson Green.
