A Norlina man was arrested Saturday following chase that began in the Wal-Mart parking lot after he allegedly stole a television from the store.
Captain Andy Jackson of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department said police received a call from the store shortly before 2:30 p.m. that a man, later identified as Neil Carlos Graham, 50, was allegedly stealing a TV.
Jackson said the man purportedly used a receipt from a different television to get past the greeter.
As Lieutenant Perry Parks and officers David Brown and Lee Mason arrived, Graham was already getting in his car.
He sped from the parking lot, jumping the curb to get onto Premier Boulevard.
After a short chase Graham was apprehended at Highway 158 and Carter Street.
He was jailed on $4,000 secured bond on charges of reckless driving, speeding, failure to stop for a stop sign, flee to elude arrest, failure to heed blue light and siren, two counts of larceny, two counts possession of stolen goods, one count of obtaining property by false pretense, one count no operators license and one count failure to stop for a red light.
