The Rich Square Police Department is not immune to being a victim of crime, Chief Alan B. Roye said in a news release.

On Thursday someone broke into the Police Annex Storage Building on Short Street and stole the police department’s 1989 Yamaha Kodiak four-wheeler.

It is green with gold rims and has blue and red emergency lights on it.

“Criminals in this area are notorious for stealing four-wheelers and we as a public safety agency are not immune,” Roye said in the press release. “The four-wheeler was jointly owned by the federal government which in turn does make this a federal crime and will be investigated as such and we are doing everything we can to apprehend the thief.” Surveillance video from the building is being processed and should help show who committed this crime.

If anyone has information about this case they are encouraged to call the police department at 252-539-2136, Northampton County Communications at 252-574-1041 or Northampton County Crime Stoppers at 252-574-1110.

A reward is offered for anyone who assists in the recovery of the four-wheeler and apprehension of the thief.
