An earlier altercation sparked a shooting into a house in the area of Key Street early this morning.
Detective Obert Wiltsie said the burglary and shooting occurred around 1 a.m. and officers were dispatched to investigate.

Interviews and a neighborhood canvas resulted in the arrests of Seqwuan Hawkins, 21, and Semajis Short, 16, both of Roanoke Rapids.
The pair were charged with first-degree burglary and discharging a weapon into occupied property.
They were jailed on $10,000 bonds and have January 29 court dates.
Wiltsie said it was unclear what the initial dispute was about, but when the two men saw people inside the house, they allegedly fired in that direction from outside. No one was injured.
Further charges may be pending and Wiltsie encourages anyone with information to call the sheriff's office at 252-593-1019 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
