Several events are being held in Halifax County to commemorate the 2014 Martin Luther King holiday.

They are as follows:

Sunday at 3 p.m. the Halifax County Black Caucus and Halifax Branch of NAACP will hold a wreath laying ceremony at MLK Park at Virginia Avenue and Wyche Street in Roanoke Rapids.

Monday at 10 a.m. Oak Grove Baptist Church will hold its MLK Day March in downtown Littleton.

Monday at 10:30 a.m. Oak Grove Baptist Church will hold a Community Resources Expo in the C.E. McCollum Fellowship Hall of the church, located off Highway 158 outside Littleton.

Monday at noon Oak Grove will hold its 12th annual MLK program at the church. The Reverend Nelson Johnson will be the speaker.

Monday at 2 p.m. the Halifax County Black Caucus’s annual Halifax Countywide Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration will be held at the Tillery Community Center.

While the event is free and open to the public, a buffet will be offered for a donation of $10 per person and a reduced price of $8 for senior citizens and children.
