The Halifax County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible harassment case that occurred Tuesday along Huckleberry Bottom Road when four men in a pickup made threats to a teen-aged pedestrian.

The matter occurred around 10 a.m. as the truck occupants, described as white males, made catcalls to the pedestrian, at one point opening the truck door and stating, “we may as well get him,” according to a statement from Major Scott Hall.

The truck was described as black, but there was no information immediately available on the make or model.

The driver was described as a white male with no shirt, wearing a long beard and American flag bandanna. The passenger was described as a white male, who also sported a long beard and wore a shirt of unknown color.

There were two white males in the rear passenger area.

When the truck door was opened, the victim ran away unharmed.

“ I would like for the public to remember to always be familiar with their surroundings and try and walk in pairs when possible,” Sheriff Wes Tripp said in the statement.

Said Hall in the statement, “The sheriff’s office wants the public to be aware of this incident and to notify their local law enforcement agency if they were to encounter any similar activity.”

Anyone with any information regarding the matter is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 252-583-8201 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
