A victim sustained superficial injuries and was treated and released after he was stabbed Thursday night following an argument over the purchase of beer.

Major Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said the row was apparently over who was or wasn't going to buy the alcohol. The assault occurred in the parking lot of Information Grocery on Highway 158.

Deputy Phillip Massey responded to the Justice Branch Road area of Littleton where the victim, who had returned home, was located.

The victim, Hall said, along with witnesses, reportedly told Massey he was stabbed with a pocketknife around 8:30 p.m.

Brown

Massey arrested Jerrell Brown, 23, of Littleton, and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon.

Brown was placed in the Halifax County Detention Center under a $1,500 secured bond and is awaiting a July 9 court date.

The victim in this case was transported to Halifax Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released with minor injuries.
