The Center for Energy Education, in partnership with BayWa r.e., will graduate 95 residents from Halifax and Edgecombe counties from its second Solar Installation and OSHA Training class.

Congressman G.K. Butterfield will be the commencement speaker during the ceremony set for December 7 at 10:00 a.m.

The ceremony will be held at the C4EE campus located at 460 Airport Road outside Roanoke Rapids.

This course is made available to local residents by BayWa r.e. Solar Projects, based in Irvine, California. BayWa r.e. is a global renewable energy developer, service supplier, wholesaler, and energy solutions provider.

Globally, BayWa r.e. has brought more than 2.5 GW of energy online, while managing over 7 GW of assets.

The training opportunity targeted residents who are unemployed, underemployed, or those needing a second chance.

C4EE will graduate military veterans looking to work in the solar industry as well. With this training, it is anticipated that C4EE graduates will receive first consideration for hire at local solar project sites.

Through the partnership with solar industry professionals, the C4EE can connect and engage community members with opportunities that upcoming solar projects bring to their areas.

Each graduate has received an invitation to interview with Wood, the construction company that is leading projects in Halifax and Edgecombe counties.

After completing the class, each student receives an OSHA 10 Certification card, safety equipment, and a Certificate of Course Completion.
