The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Captain A.M. Harris:
Tuesday, around 2 p.m., Lieutenant C. Emerson Carroll stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation on Interstate 95 at the 171 milepost.
The passenger, Cynthia Patricia Guzman, 31, of Bronx, New York, was entered as a wanted person in North Dakota for identity theft and in South Dakota for larceny.
Carroll arrested Guzman and charged her for being a fugitive from justice.
She received a $50,000 bond and March 18 court date.
Guzman had been arrested in the state of Arizona in 2019 for being a fugitive from justice, but absconded.
The driver was issued a written warning ticket for speeding.
Lieutenant J. Bozard with his dog Fino assisted
Tuesday, Deputy Michael Bishop and Carroll stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation.
The driver was identified as Louis Whitehead, 19, and the passengers Christopher Pagan, 21, and Carlos Dasilva Jr., 20, all of Rhode Island.
They were cited with a North Carolina uniform citation for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bozard and Fino assisted.
Monday, shortly after 5 p.m., Bishop stopped a vehicle for a speed violation on I-95 at the 169 milepost.
Carroll assisted with the stop.
During the encounter with the driver, Akeem Braithwaite, 29, of Fayetteville, Bozard was called to the scene with Fino.
A positive alert was indicated. A search yielded marijuana and paraphernalia.
Braithwaite was cited with a North Carolina uniform citation for possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.
Braithwaite received an April 28 court date and was issued a written warning ticket for the speed violation.
Deputy Rebecca Elder also assisted.
