The Halifax County Convention and Visitors Bureau is providing a Halifax County Strong section on its website which provides links to restaurants which are offering take-out, curbside pickup or delivery.

The section also provides information on attractions in the area and their status during the COVID-19 threat.

In addition to restaurants and attractions, the Halifax County Strong section has a link to places to stay in the county while visiting. The section notes all national chain hotels are open.

Lori Medlin, president and CEO of the HCVB said this morning the reason for providing the service on the website is simple. “We appreciate the people that work in the tourism industry so much.

Our goal is to support these businesses and employees during this difficult time. If they’re brave enough to stay open to the public in some way, we want to help get the word out so others can support them.”

The lead-in to the section says, “From April 12, 1776, to today, Halifax County has always welcomed visitors with open arms to our communities. Our tourism community is strong and made up of large businesses and small family businesses that have done a great job growing this industry over the past several years.”

Says the introduction: “Today the Visit Halifax team has worked to compile this landing page that provides information on how you can support our local restaurants and hotels that are staying open to serve you. Everyone is working hard to follow government mandates and maintain health and safety as our top priority.”
