Five Littleton area residents were charged Wednesday on breaking and entering and other related counts after a Halifax County Sheriff’s Office corporal reportedly saw them fleeing the scene.
Chief Deputy Scott Hall said this morning the items stolen ranged from scrap metal and currency to household items.
Hall said in a statement around 3:30 p.m., Corporal B.J. Murphy was dispatched to the Roper Springs Road area of Littleton about a breaking and entering which was in progress.
Murphy arrived on scene and witnessed a red Suburban flee the area.
Deputies stopped the vehicle a short distance away.
Through further investigation it was learned a second residence was broken into and multiple items were stolen.

Murphy arrested and charged Anthony Davis, 53, Joseph Williams, 57, Tempie Settles, 34, Tammy Settles, 36, and Chelsea Carter, 21, with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and possession of stolen goods.
Davis and Williams received $15,000 bonds. Tempie Settles and Tammy Settles received $10,000 bonds. Chelsea Carter was released on a written promise to appear.
They have May 20 district court dates.
