Oscar’s and State Farm teamed up this morning to deliver 415 breakfast sandwiches to the staff of Vidant North Hospital.

Agent Chris Canady worked with Oscar’s owner Michael Dunlow to feed the hospital staff on the start of National Nurses Week.

“I wanted to partner with a local business to help our healthcare workers,” Canady said as he began to place the bagged meals in his vehicle with the help of customers outside waiting for their take-out orders. “I know they’re tired and work extremely long hours. I wanted to do something to brighten their day and let them know they’re appreciated.”

He said he could think of no better business to partner with. “It’s an established business. It’s good to partner with a local restaurant. Everyone at Oscar’s has a smile on their face and I hope it puts a smile on their (the hospital staff’s) faces.”

Dunlow said, “I appreciate them for letting Oscar’s do this. The community has always supported Oscar’s since 1953. I’m glad they put us in a position that we could help.”

Canady said he received support from the State Farm corporate office for this morning’s endeavor.

On his second trip to pick up more breakfast sandwiches, he said the initial delivery to Vidant North was well-received. “We took them to the lobby to set up. “Betsy Morris of the foundation has been fabulous to work with. The first delivery went well.”
