Three businesses have joined together to provide food vouchers for first responders in Roanoke Rapids.

Maddrey Insurance Agency-Erie Insurance, 2nd Street Lunch and Lynch’s Office Supply, which printed the vouchers, presented the tickets to the city’s police and fire departments as well as Roanoke Valley Rescue Squad.

“We partnered together to give a special thanks to our local first responders due to COVID-19,” said Julie Aston of Maddrey. “We just want to give a shout out to the first responders when they are out on the front lines.”

Captain Jamie Hardy of the police department said, “It’s awesome to have businesses coming together. It’s what it will take to get through this, partnering and supporting each other.”

For Victoria Haislip of 2nd Street, “The community is our family. Being a third generation business, we try to find ways to connect with the community. It’s important to us. First responders work night and day.”

Said Aston, “It’s about small businesses coming together to show support for our first responders.”
