A Seaboard mother and daughter remain in custody after they were charged Monday for allegedly carrying 80 grams of heroin in a vehicle that was also occupied by a 3-year-old.

Weldon Police Chief Christopher Davis said Carla Felicia Vick and her daughter, Che’lontae Vick, face numerous charges following a traffic stop on Highway 158 at the I-95 overpass. Officer C.L. Foster initiated the stop for expired plates and an inspection violation.

According to the arrest warrant, Carla allegedly destroyed a vial filled with cocaine by breaking it into several pieces.

Davis said 32 grams of cocaine were also seized. The drugs were found in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle near the child. The child was turned over to a responsible family member, the chief confirmed.

Che'lontae Vick

The mother and daughter face charges of trafficking a Schedule I and Schedule II controlled substance, possession of Schedule I and II substances, possession with intent to sell and distribute Schedule I, possession with intent to sell and distribute Schedule II, resisting, delaying, or obstructing an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, exposing a child under 16 to a controlled substance, and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance.

Carla Vick received a $357,500 secured bond, and Che’lontae Vick was given a $291,500 secured bond. They each have a July 7 district court date.
