A Whitakers man faces a felony drug charge following a traffic stop in Halifax early this morning.
Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Major Anzell Harris said Lieutenant E. Richardson and Deputy T. Morales were conducting enforcement in the 8000 block of Highway 301 shortly after 1 a.m. when Morales stopped a vehicle for an unspecified traffic violation.
During the course of the traffic stop, Deputy Morales developed probable cause to conduct a search of both the vehicle and its occupants.

As a result of the search, deputies seized ecstasy and drug paraphernalia from a passenger in the vehicle, identified as 21-year-old Mar'kayvion Williams of the Whitakers area.
Williams was arrested and officially charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following his arrest, Williams was issued a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 5.
