The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Major Anzell Harris:

A Roanoke Rapids woman remains in the Halifax County Detention Center following a traffic stop on Highway 158 near Airport Road on Wednesday.

Brandi Fairbee, 38, allegedly admitted to having crack cocaine inside her vehicle. A subsequent search resulted in the seizure of suspected crack cocaine, two oxycodone pills, and drug paraphernalia.

Fairbee was initially stopped by Community Action Team Sergeant D. Harrison, who observed signs of nervous behavior while speaking with the driver and passenger. 

Harrison requested assistance, and Officer J. Snider of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department responded to the scene. Canine Loki was deployed for an open-air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive alert for the presence of narcotics.

Fairbee was arrested and charged with felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, simple possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She received a $3,000 secured bond and has an August 26 district court date.

Counterfeit bill

On Saturday, Deputy M. Sanchez and Corporal I. Smith responded to a grocery store on West Tenth Street in Roanoke Rapids after a suspect —later identified as Deannie Jordan — allegedly passed a fake $100 bill in exchange for real currency. Deputies obtained surveillance images of the suspect.

On Tuesday, deputies were notified that Jordan, 40, had returned to the store. Deputy J. Snider and Sergeant M. Sledge responded to the area and observed her leaving the parking lot, where they initiated a traffic stop.

Jordan’s driver’s license was revoked, and Central Communications confirmed she had an outstanding order for arrest out of Vance County.

Jordan was arrested on the outstanding Vance County warrant and charged with driving while license revoked and obtaining property by false pretense. She posted a $2,500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in Halifax County District Court on August 26.
