A routine traffic stop north of Enfield led to the arrest of a Whitakers man wanted on multiple outstanding felony domestic violence warrants, according to Major Anzell Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday, Corporal J. Morales was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 301 just north of Enfield when he stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.

During the stop, Morales discovered that the driver, 32-year-old Jose Rivera of Whitakers, did not possess a valid driver’s license and had active felony warrants out of Wake County. Rivera was immediately taken into custody.
Following the stop, Rivera was charged with:
Speeding
No operator’s license
He was also served with outstanding Wake County warrants stemming from a February 11, 2024 matter investigated by the Raleigh Police Department, including:
Assault by pointing a gun
Assault by strangulation
Assault on a female
Misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence
Rivera was issued no bond for the Halifax County charges and is scheduled to appear in court on November 23. He also received no bond for the Wake County charges, with a court date set for August 26.
