The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office reported the following, according to Major Anzell Harris:
Forcible rape
A juvenile victim reported to the Roanoke Rapids Police Department on Wednesday that she had been sexually assaulted. RRPD investigators, however, determined the alleged offense occurred outside the city limits.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Torey Richardson, 36, of Roanoke Rapids, on charges of second-degree forcible rape and second-degree forcible sex offense.

The warrant alleged that he held the victim down by her hands and throat.
Richardson was denied bail and has an October 21 District Court date.
Vehicle larceny
One man was arrested Wednesday for a Sunday vehicle theft, and his passenger faces a drug charge and probation violation.

Warrants filed by Sergeant A. Wood allege that Brian Salyer, 41, of Littleton, received $349.45 for scrapping a stolen vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee valued at $6,300.
Access to the vehicle was gained by damaging a steel chain and padlock, valued at $200, in the area of Buck Drive and Deer Run Drive in Roanoke Rapids.
Wood filed warrants against Salyer for felony larceny of a motor vehicle, felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle, felony obtaining property by false pretense, misdemeanor injury to personal property, and misdemeanor first-degree trespassing. Salyer was also served with an outstanding order for arrest for failure to appear in Greensville County, Virginia, on a charge of grand larceny.
On Wednesday, shortly after 11:45 p.m., Wood and Corporal R. Lafayette conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that Salyer was known to operate.

His passenger, identified as 32-year-old Adam Pearson of Roanoke Rapids, was charged with possession of Adderall. Pearson was also wanted for a probation violation.
Salyer received a $26,000 secured bond and was denied bail for the Virginia charge.
Pearson received a $500 bond for the probation violation and was denied bail for the drug charge.
