The Halifax County Health Department reported the following information this afternoon on the novel coronavirus:

As of midnight Tuesday, the health department is aware of 1,509 confirmed tests performed on residents; 254 positive cases; three related deaths; and 212 recoveries.

The approximate number of current cases can be calculated by subtracting the recoveries from the cumulative number of positive cases since testing began.

There are 19 tests pending and 1,236 known negative results.

The health department said in its afternoon update there continues to be a downward trend regarding positive cases.

Continued handwashing, wearing a facial covering in public and social distancing is encouraged.

Northampton County

The health department Tuesday reported there were 183 total positive cases of which 150 have recovered. There are 15 COVID-19 related deaths.
