Captain A.M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Agent R.E. Ball arrested and charged 47-year-old John Paul Mills with possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule I, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The search was executed shortly after 1 p.m. by deputies and narcotics agents. Fentanyl and a digital scale were seized.

The search warrant was based on citizen complaints about possible activity.

Mills received a $500 bond and October 21 court date.

Around noon, agents and deputies executed a search warrant on Carver Street. During the search of the residence agents seized drug paraphernalia.

No charges were filed but Ball will continue to follow up on the residence.

Citizens are encouraged to report possible drug activity by calling the Halifax County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division at 252-535-1257; Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444; or by downloading and using the P3 Tips app for Android or Apple.
