The Halifax County Health Department today added 18 new positive cases of COVID-19 to its data.
This brings the total number of positives since testing began in March to 1,447.

There have been 27 deaths related to COVID-19 in Halifax County with the following breakdown: 17 within the Roanoke Rapids area ZIP code; three within the Weldon area ZIP code; two within the Enfield area ZIP code; two within the Scotland Neck area ZIP code; one within the Halifax area ZIP code; one within the Hollister area ZIP code; and one within the Littleton area ZIP code.
In its update Thursday the health department reported there have been 1,184 recoveries and there were 205 current cases.
Today’s report shows an increase in the trend of positive cases since March 25.
The health department continues to encourage residents to practice the three Ws — waiting six feet apart, handwashing and wearing a facial covering. “Improving your compliance with the three Ws now will both better educate children as to how to practice them. Please take this opportunity to protect our children and each other very seriously,” the health department said.
Northampton County
The health department reported Thursday there were 593 total positive cases of which 523 have recovered. There were 50 active cases.
There have been 20 related deaths.
