The Halifax County Health Department added 15 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus to its data today.

The 15 new positives bring the total cumulative number of positives since March to 1,884.

Today’s graphical information continues to note a sustained increase in the number of positives in the county while showing a decrease in the number of positive cases since Monday’s report.

There have been 35 related deaths in the county with the following breakdown: 19 within the Roanoke Rapids area ZIP code; five within the Enfield area ZIP code; four within the Scotland Neck area ZIP code; three within the Weldon area ZIP code; two within the Littleton area ZIP code; one within the Halifax area ZIP code; and one within the Hollister area ZIP code. 

The health department and its director, Bruce Robistow, said Monday it encourages county residents to “pull together to both prevent unwanted closings and to reduce the number of positive cases and deaths. We all need to be ever mindful of wearing masks in public places, distancing 6-feet and washing our hands.”

Northampton County

The health department reported Monday there were 817 total positive cases of which 685 have recovered. There were 104 active cases. There have been 28 related deaths.
