A Scotland Neck man has pleaded guilty to two of the three counts lodged against him for fentanyl trafficking, according to federal court documents.

Prarjhua Shairoy Powell was present by consent via a video conference before District Judge Louise Wood Flanagan and entered the pleas in early November.

Powell pleaded guilty to knowingly and intentionally possessing with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of a mixture containing detectable amounts of fentanyl from January of 2019 to September of last year and count two of the indictment which charges he he knowingly and intentionally possessed with intent to distribute 40 grams on January 20 of last year.

The January 2019 and the September 2019 cases were initially investigated by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office.

The court conditionally approved the plea memorandum, court records show.

Sentencing has been set for the April 6 term of court before Flanagan.

Previous federal court documents show that Powell continued trafficking in large amounts of heroin and fentanyl after having been arrested and released on bond for a February 2019 trafficking case.

His prior noncompliance with supervision includes violations for absconding supervision and there was evidence he possessed a firearm at the time of his arrest on federal charges.
