The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is investigating a shooting death which occurred at Windchase Apartments around 11 p.m. Saturday.

Chief Bobby Martin said this morning detectives have been working on the case throughout the night until 6 a.m. today.

In a statement sent early this morning Martin said officers responded to 701 Littleton Road after receiving a call a person had been shot. He said the person was shot outside.

Officers located a person who had been shot multiple times and was unresponsive. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the deceased was not listed pending notification of family members.
