Two brothers from Roanoke Rapids are wanted in the January 16 shooting death of a 36-year-old man at Windchase Apartments.

Roanoke Rapids police Chief Bobby Martin said this afternoon Jonathan James Brown, 33, and his 34-year-old brother Joshua Patrick Brown tend to frequent the area of the Georgia Avenue apartments and other areas of Roanoke Rapids.

Martin said it is possible since the two have warrants lodged against them they could be out of the area. “Any time something like this happens, I imagine they have other places they can lay their heads and hide from law enforcement.”

The police chief declined comment on the connection between the Brown brothers and the victim — Curtis Graham. He also declined to discuss a possible motive in the case.

He did say investigators established enough probable cause to file warrants for the arrest of Jonathan Brown on charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder and Joshua Brown on a count of conspiracy to commit murder.

The shooting death of Graham occurred the evening of January 16 shortly before 11:30.

Officers responded to the apartment complex after receiving a call a person had been shot.

Officers located a person who had been shot multiple times and was unresponsive. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
