A Roanoke Rapids man was charged in a shooting this morning which occurred around 8 at a residence on Carolina Rest Home Road.
Chief Deputy Scott Hall of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Detective R.M. Brown discovered the victim did not have life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Brown learned the location the alleged suspect — Elijah Tyler Thorne, 22 — fled to following the shooting.
He was taken into custody without trouble at a nearby home and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
He received a $40,000 bond and February 17 court date.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Hall was not immediately available for further comment this afternoon.
