Veterans Day observances will be held Saturday during the Roanoke Rapids Theatre ribbon-cutting and grand opening.
AMVETS Post 101 will observe the Marine Corps Birthday and Veterans Salute with Charlie Daniels Band Saturday.
Post 101 will sponsor the traditional cake cutting ceremony as part of the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The ribbon-cutting is at 5 p.m. and the USMC cake-cutting ceremony will be at 5:15 p.m.
The grand opening features The Charlie Daniels Band with a special Veterans Day salute to the military.
Lobby doors open at 5:30 p.m. Theatre doors open at 6 p.m.
Michael Telliga will open for Charlie Daniels at 7 p.m. Charlie Daniels opens at 8 p.m.
Sunday
An Eagle Scout ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. at Veterans Park. The scout will leave for the Navy Monday.
At 3 p.m. a Veterans Day service will be held at Veterans Park.
The service will feature a speaker, tribute to all veterans and special music.
A color guard and JROTC will participate. There will be a special recognition of World War II veterans.

Efforts remain underway for a memorial honoring veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan at Veterans Park.
The monument is the idea of Toni Outland who has begun a fundraising effort.
Cost of the monument, which is backed by the city, is $12,000

American Legion Post 38 Finance Officer Glen Mosley presented a check of $1,000 to Outland for the memorial recently.
