Halifax County novel coronavirus statistics are now back to normal after delayed reporting by a facility caused the number of positives to spike in Wednesday’s report, health department Director Bruce Robistow confirmed.

“We are declining, but we are still high,” he said.

Robistow said earlier this week he would like to see the percent positive rate down to 5 percent. As of Wednesday’s report the percent positive in the county was 14.7.

Today the health department added 24 new positive cases which brings the cumulative total since March to 4,646. There have been 83 related deaths.

The health department continues to encourage residents to wait 6-feet apart, wear a facial covering and wash hands frequently.

The failure to properly send the reports to the state resulted in 270 cases being added on Wednesday.

The health department said all other medical facilities performing COVID testing in the county have been properly sending the results to the state.
