The Halifax County Health Department today added one death related to COVID-19 to its data.

The latest related death brings the total in Halifax County to 96, the health department reported.

The department added 12 new positive cases to its data, which brings the cumulative total since March to 4,972.

Data on recoveries and current cases was not available.

Northampton County

The health department reported Wednesday there were 1,644 total positive cases of which 1,567 have recovered. There were 11 active cases. There have been 66 related deaths.

Vidant Health

The health system reported the following this morning:

More than 9,000 team members, providers and community health care workers have received the vaccine; more than 7,600 have received both doses, completing their vaccine series.

Since January 8, more than 35,500 doses of the vaccine have been administered to eligible community members.

Vidant’s system-wide census of hospitalized COVID-19 patients is 102. “It remains important for our community to help flatten the curve by continuing to practice important safety habits: Wear a mask, wash hands often and avoid gatherings,” Vidant said.
