TECHTERRA Education, a Durham-based company with a global reach and philosophy of STEM Literacy for All, donated four 3D Doodle pen classroom sets to Weldon City Schools.

Susan Wells, the CEO of the company, and members of her team made the donation and will also provide professional development for teachers incorporating the pens into the STEM curriculum.

Value of the donation is more than $15,000.

"I started the company after spending 32 years as a teacher, principal, and director of special education,” Wells said. “Our purpose is to support teachers and students from a practitioner's point of view. We have spent our life supporting public education."

Weldon City Schools Interim Superintendent Jerry V. Congleton said, "We extend our heartfelt thanks to TECHTERRA educators for donating the STEM supplies to our district. The 3D Doodle Pens align with our district-wide STEM initiatives. We are looking forward to continuing to learn how to use these innovative educational tools."

The district and TECHTERRA Education are currently planning to present the devices to the middle and high school teachers in the upcoming weeks.
