An investigation into cocaine sales in July which included several buys led to the execution of a search warrant and the arrest of a Roanoke Rapids man.
Captain A.M. Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office said the search warrant execution Tuesday led to the seizure of 346 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of crack, a handgun, paraphernalia, and currency from the Wood Street residence of 43-year-old Terell Lamont Johnson.
Agent D.J. Epperson started an investigation in July after receiving information about a man selling cocaine in the area.
Several purchases of cocaine were made and on Tuesday around 11 a.m. agents conducted a buy-bust undercover purchase from Johnson.
Agent D.J. Epperson arrested and charged Johnson with possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, sell cocaine and deliver cocaine for the buy-bust operation and trafficking cocaine by possession, possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle/dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of stolen goods and felon in possession of a firearm.
The possession of stolen goods count was for a Giant mountain bike valued at $2,000 which was recovered at the residence and had been reported stolen in October. The bicycle had been entered into national criminal databases by the sheriff’s office.
Johnson received a $40,000 bond with a March 17 court date.
The street value of the cocaine seized was approximately $21,660. Additional felony drug charges are anticipated.
