Roanoke Rapids Graded School District Superintendent Dain Butler and the board of trustees have named Clara Hearne Pre-K Center Coordinator Lindsey Goble as the new principal of Belmont Elementary School.

Goble, who will begin August 1 in her new role, is replacing Terrell Jones who is retiring.

“I am excited for the students and staff at Belmont. They are getting a proven leader who cares deeply for the district and this community. I feel confident that Belmont families will embrace her as she begins this new role,” said Butler.

Goble is a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School and returned to the district to work in 2008 after attending Meredith College.

She was named the Clara Hearne Teacher of the Year in 2018.

She holds a bachelor's degree in child development and psychology and a masters in early childhood education and school administration.

“I am a collaborative and servant-based leader who will inherit a hard-working, talented group of staff. I take my new educational responsibility to the children of Belmont Elementary School very seriously,” she said. “My focus will be on listening, observing, and forming relationships with the staff, students, and families of Belmont Elementary School. I hope to continue the great work that has been done and reach new educational heights in the future.”

Belmont will continue its Leader in Me program which empowers and embraces personal leadership starting in Kindergarten.

The school philosophy is that every student has the capacity to lead, make good choices, and positively impact those around them.
