The 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks was observed today outside the Roanoke Rapids Theatre.

Pentagon survivors Evelyn and David Woodson spoke and North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey gave the keynote address.

Visitors to the event were able to get up-close views of helicopters from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and North Carolina Forest Service.

Roanoke Rapids firefighters gave tours of its new fire safety house.

The event was sponsored by the Halifax County Republican Party and Roanoke Rapids Theatre.
