Scotland Neck police are looking for a man wanted in a Sunday afternoon shooting at the Cupboard Store on Main Street.
Officers, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page, found one victim who sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Vidant Edgecombe before being airlifted to Vidant Medical Center.
The victim was pumping gas around 4:15 p.m. when a man later identified as Reshawn Smith drove up in a black Jeep Cherokee. Smith, of Scotland Neck, according to witnesses, exchanged words with the victim and then fired several shots.
Smith fled the scene and was last seen traveling east on East Ninth Street.
Police believe the shooting was isolated. The victim is in critical condition.
Police have issued warrants for the arrest of Smith on charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, going armed to the terror of the people, and discharging a firearm inside the city limits.
