Barber’s artwork was among the 31 entries submitted for the contest.

The contest was open to students to show off their artistic talent.

There were four topics to choose from: The importance of getting the COVID-19 vaccine; why and how to wear a mask; why and how we wash our hands; and three steps to staying safe from germs.

Barber's winning topic was How to stay safe from COVID-19.

Sutania McBean, an ELA teacher, assisted Barber in submitting his work.

Yair Castellanos, ABC2 community strategist, rewarded Barber with a $25 gift card for his work and placement for the contest.

Superintendent Eric Cunningham said, "I am so proud of Mr. Barber for participating in the ABC2 contest. How to stay safe from COVID-19 is such an important topic, and everyone must do their part in ensuring we keep each other safe.”

Principal Brian Biles said, "I am very proud of the work he put into this design and how he has represented Halifax County Schools.”

Barber's poster will be publicly showcased to promote COVID Safety through the ABC2 web page and neighboring school districts' websites.
